Good start. 1 – a little too loud and some intonation faults. Senza string. – I hear too much B Trom! However the sounds are good.

Allegro – neat and clear. 9 – good sop if a little too loud. All goes well with good balance on held notes from A. 20 – I could take more. 21 – Solo cornet fine but more shape would help the musical picture. We lose some of the earlier clarity. E – effective and continues so. 30 – more tune needed. I feel the cornets become tired.

Many good points in this performance but some lapses too – we became tired to close.

A safe opening. 1 – some tuning problems in bar 4 sop lower register. You have an overpowering bass trom which makes the balance dodgy.

Allegro – clean playing. 9 – sop is safe. 10 – euph joins well. 14 – a spot of intonation here but overcome. 21 – needed style and shape. 26 to 26 a lack of clarity here. E – Eb bass clean playing. 29 – mispitches in higher band. 30 – we need more tune, its lost in mid and lower band.

A performance that had a lot to commend.

Opening steady, basses unison good, cornet accurate. 1 – a slight tuning problem. Senza stringendo – forceful but a touch lightweight for ff. 4 – don’t turn the ff crotchets into quavers, give them their full length.

Allegro – a good start. The sop in bars 5, 6 etc should lead. 9 – only p please soloist. Generally your quiet dynamics are a touch too loud and f and above a bit below. C – a case in point, the cornets and flug, rather loud. D – nice timpani. 21 – an occasional note missed. 25 – nicely shaped. 28 – ensemble between troms and basses rocks a bit. E – Eb bass solo nicely shaped, intertwining between s cort and flug well balanced. A large scale exciting finish.
