Test Piece - Music for a Festival

A bright opening - fine troms. A nice horn lead - careful tuning? B just a little loose in ensemble. C not just balanced. D fine sound. E still just a shade untidy in rhythm. F Balance? Horn sound a shade forced. G dynamics nicely observed. Euph secure, cornet likewise. H Cornet balance? Just a few uneasy moments, but you capture the mood of this opening movement. Tuning to end?

Andantino euph could use p <mp > more. The ending was nicely shaped. Larghetto careful cornets intonation - the music has a lovely shape. Meno mosso - euph secure, ends well. Cornet lovely sound - accomp just right demis are well measured. K Flug/horns rather hard in sound. Fanfare (cornets) is well measured. The ending - lovely level. L quartet not just balanced but the music has the desired flow. Controlled ending.

Vivo. This was an impressive opening (percussion) You get around the rhythm with real style and an assured technical skill. R links nicely. Cantabile lovely horn sound - flugel entry a shade heavy - it must match. T careful horns don't "push" the rhythm. Balance and sound is just fine. V tutti comes off with real panache. The ending had a dynamic sound and style.

This was a technically assured performance. Just had one or two moments of rhythmic uncertainty. Soloists came over with style.

A fine performance.
BRAVO!!
