Testpiece - Life Divine
Peter Parkes
Positive start (but it could move a little)
Allegro Vivace - Good Tempo but rather
scrappy. E - problems! Good Bass. F - good section - this
works well to the rallentando.
Maestoso - good trombones and baritone.
Andante - Nicely played but rather
slow - if it moved forward a little it would be so much
more effective - a good sound through to Allegro Vivace
- rather scrappy into K.
Andante - okay. Good positive sound
at Molto Maestoso. N is demisemi-quavers, not semi-quavers.
Allegro Vivace - well played though
a little edgy.
Molto Maestoso - good trombones and
it moves nicely into Andante Nobilimente.
Much very good playing
Alan Morrison
Andante - lacks flow for andante but
a good balanced sound. Some weak points in sustained notes
and rhythm not exact in upper lines. Tuning poor in build
up to A.
Allegro - a little aggressive with
unnecessary accents. Semis often untidy. [next part illegible].
It hurries to trills.
Maestoso - troms not controlled and
some insecurity in tuning. Good close.
Andante - Expressive intentions but
it lacks a little flow. Pedalling unnecessary but it is
nicely played in lead lines.
Allegro - lively and brisk if not always
well matched. Big sounds at L and almost successful semis
in baritones. Good close.
Maestoso - this has quality and is
fine but rhythm is inaccurate.
Allegro - again a little aggressive
with unnecessary accents. Its all just a little edgy in
technique and could be clearer.
Maestoso - very good troms here and
a good attempt at maintaining the line.
Andante again lacks flow and plods
on somewhat but with good sounds and balance.
Presto - not entirely clean but a good
ending.
Much to commend here just lacking a little
finesse in places.
