This annual event was well supported although the date had clashed with other banding activities, not least of which was the Harrowgate National Finals and Pete and Emma's wedding!

From Mount Charles Youth Band Joanna Powell, James Hammett, Florence Stokes and Andrew Hammett entered.

Joanna came 2nd in the 18 years and under, 2nd in the open slow melody and 3rd in the aire varie, these were really great results as it was her first solo competition back after a few years break.

James came 3rd in the 15 years and unders class and and came in just outside the places in the open slow melody.

Andrew and Florence played their first duet together and came 2nd. Florence and Andrew also took part in their own solo class, the 12 and unders.

Florence came a creditable 4th and Andrew won the class and was also presented with the Nigel Truscott Shield for the best trombone.

Mr. Vivian Willcock was the adjudicator for the day and his remarks were encouraging and fair.

Stephen Watts was the official accompanist and, as ever, played sensitively and put the competitors at ease.

We would like to thank Indian Queens Band for putting on such an enjoyable event.
