Jon started his musical career
with the youth band in 1974. In 1982 his studies took him
to the Guildhall School of Music and then as a professional
trumpet player in a touring band that travelled the world.
Jon returned to Cornwall in 1992 and to Mount Charles to take
the soprano chair which he holds with distinction. He was
the Arthur Bedwell Champion Soloist at Pontins 2001 for his
performance of Diadem of Gold.

Pete is one of the
stars in the band who has played many positions within the
cornet section as well as Flugel during his time in the
band. Another product of the youth band Pete is really quite
unique!!! He is the band’s DJ when it comes to your
long coach journeys! He is a great player and really is
a major part of the band . Again an unselfish member of
the band who has seen the band grow over the last 15 years.

| Charlie
Best - 2nd Cornet |

Charlie started playing
Cornet at the age of 7 with Bugle Silver Band. He started
on third and quickly moved second, rep then eventually solo
cornet. He was invited by the youth band to help on front
row for Manchester in 2005, he enjoyed it so much he decided
to stay. After a while the band lost its Rep player so Charlie
offered to help out for a while but has stayed there until
now. Charlie was invited to join the senior band in summer
2006 to help on concerts. His first contest with the senior
band was Brass in Concert in November 2006.

Becki started playing at
the age of 8 in Camborne Youth Band, since that time she has
also played for Redruth, Lanner, St Austell and Camborne.
Becki joined Mount Charles in 2004 with her first contest
being Brass in Concert. Becki works for Cornwall County Council
within the Economy and Europe team and also assists in managing
the website for the authority.
