Ian Thomas - Principal Cornet
 
 
Ian started playing at the age of 7 under the guidance of Dave Pope, joining Mount Charles Youth Band shortly thereafter. Ian joined the Senior Band in 1987 working from third cornet eventually up to principal cornet until leaving for University in 1995. Upon returning to Cornwall in 1999, Ian took up the principal cornet chair.

It may be a sign of his advancing years but Ian has had many highlights with the band including 3 Area titles. By day Ian works as a solicitor for Foot Anstey in Truro.

Ian also plays trumpet in The Harry Peanut Show which are a 8 piece Soul and Funk band - www.harrypeanutshow.co.uk

 Megan Alexander - Solo Cornet
   
 
Megan started playing at the age of 7 under Dave Pope in the youth band. She moved onto Flugel aged 11 and made it into the Senior Band on 3rd cornet when she was 13. She worked her way up through the cornet ranks to 2nd man down and then took a "career break" in 2007 shortly before the birth of her second daughter Daisy .  Her banding highlights are being the first Cornish band to play at Brass in Concert and also playing at the Albert Hall. She is married to Duncan who plays percussion and also has a daughter Michaela who plays in the youth band. By day Megan works for the civil service.

Adam Gore - Solo Cornet

   
  Adam started playing the cornet at the age of 10 and soon joined Hayle Town Band. In 1999, he joined the Mount Charles Youth Band on 2nd cornet, progressing over time to principal cornet, and was delighted to join the Mount Charles senior band in 2000. His first contest with the band was in Pontins playing Pagannini Variations. It was 2005 when Adam left the band to join the Royal Marines as a musician. After three years training in Portsmouth, Adam joined his first Royal Marines Band in Scotland where in just two years he travelled to Norway, Gibraltar, Australia and the Netherlands. During this time he had a brief spell with Kingdom Brass on repiano cornet. He has now been posted to Plymouth with the Royal Marines and has taken the opportunity to rejoin Mount Charles, and is delighted to be back with the band where he feels he belongs!
