| Ian Thomas - Principal
Cornet |

Ian started playing at the
age of 7 under the guidance of Dave Pope, joining Mount Charles
Youth Band shortly thereafter. Ian joined the Senior Band
in 1987 working from third cornet eventually up to principal
cornet until leaving for University in 1995. Upon returning
to Cornwall in 1999, Ian again took up the principal cornet
chair.
His highlights include the
2 wins at Pontins in 1999 and 2001, the West of England
Area wins in 2004 and 2006 and the debut performances for
the band at Brass in Concert and the National Finals at
the Royal Albert Hall. Ian has also had the fortunate pleasure
of playing in concert with the Black Dyke band and the London
Philharmonic Orchestra. By day Ian works as a solicitor
for Hancock Caffin.

| Andrew
Jay - Solo Cornet |

Starting in St Dennis at the age of eight
at St Dennis Youth Band, he then joined the Senior Band,
working up through the ranks to Principal Cornet and then
soprano.He went onto Bodmin in 1992 and stayed there for
8 years before leaving to travel Australia and New Zealand,
where he played soprano at two contests with Waitakere Trust
Band (Auckland) under Howard Taylor.
On his return to Cornwall in 2001, Andrew
rejoined Bodmin, and then went back to his roots at St Dennis.
Andrew is looking forward to returning to the challenge
of championship banding with Mount Charles and working with
Dr Nicholas Childs again. During the day Andrew works at
a car retailers.

| Stacie
Hill - Solo Cornet |

Stacie started playing the cornet just before
her 11th birthday and after 3 weeks joined the St Dennis
Junior Band quickly progressing to the Youth and Senior
Band.
She had lessons with Andrew Jay, later with Brian Minear
and now Garry Lannie. Stacie has competed in many solo contests
and there's hardly a trophy in Cornwall that doesn't bear
her name.
She has played solo cornet with the Cornwall Youth Brass
Band for a number of years and with the National Youth Brass
Band of Great Britain since September 2006. Stacie was also
a guest player with the band of the Parachute Regiment in
Colchester in 2005.
Stacie moved to the Mount Charles Senior Band in September
2008 and is thoroughly enjoying her banding.

Jon Small - Solo Cornet

Jon started his musical career with the
youth band in 1974. In 1982 his studies took him to the Guildhall
School of Music and then as a professional trumpet player
in a touring band that travelled the world. Jon returned to
Cornwall in 1992 and to Mount Charles to take the soprano
chair which he holds with distinction. He was the Arthur Bedwell
Champion Soloist at Pontins 2001 for his performance of Diadem
of Gold.
