Tim Whitehead - Flugel Horn

Tim joined the band in 2002 after playing in Bodmin Band for over 20 years. He is often featured as a soloist at concerts and contests, most recently at Brass in Concert where he performed ‘Over the Rainbow’. Recognised as a very talented flugel player Tim brings with him great band management experience and runs his own business ‘Premier Paving’. He got married to Sarah in 2005.

Sarah Whitehead- Solo Horn

Sarah started playing at the age of 7 on cornet with the Mount Charles Beginners group, and shortly after progressed into the Youth Band. After 4 years on cornet, Sarah moved onto tenor horn and in 1990 joined the Senior Band. Working up through the ranks, Sarah took the Solo horn position in 1997.

Her most memorable banding moments are the West of England Area wins in 2004 & 2006, the bands debut performances at Brass in Concert and the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall, and performing in 'Brassed Off' at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth.

Sarah has held the position of Concert Secretary for several years. During the day, she is a self-employed Architectural Technician and helps to run Husband Tims Building firm.

Kirsty McAuley - 1st Horn

Kirsty started playing the violin at the age of 3 by the Suziki method, and onto the cornet with Mount Charles Youth band when she was 6 and then shortly moved to St Dennis where she moved onto tenor horn. Spending 11 years at Bodmin she then left to travel around the world. Kirsty was invited to play with the National Youth Brass Band of GB when she was 11 and passed her Grade 8 on horn when she was 14 with distinction. Kirsty returned to Cornwall from London having completed her Law degree.

Joanna Powell - 2nd Horn

Joanna is currently Solo Horn in the youth band. She started playing for St. Dennis band at the age of 6 where she stayed for 9 years, playing in both their youth and senior bands. The highlight of her time there was playing Solo Horn in the 2nd section national finals in 2006 and winning! She has also been playing for the Cornwall Youth Brass Band since 2001 and at the beginning of 2007 was invited to play for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.
