Derek started in the Youth
Band in 1984 and made his senior band debut in 1985 playing
'Contest Music' at the Colston Hall, Bristol. Since then he
has enjoyed great times with the band including performances
at the Albert Hall, Grand Shield, Masters and Brass in Concert.
His most memorable banding moments to date are winning Pontins,
qualifying for the Albert Hall and the bands debut at Brass
in Concert. Derek's ambition is to compete at the British
Open!

Karl
joined the youth band in 2005 and started in the senior
band in May 2005, performing at the Grand Shield as his
debut on Masquerade. Great potential and very enthusiastic,
Karl hopes to be an electrician following his exams and
is an important part of the percussion team.

Jen started in the beginners
band at the age of 5, playing cornet, and quickly joined the
youth band. After trying out her stepbrothers drum kit, she
realised there was far more excitement in the percussion section.
She joined the senior band at age 11 playing various contests
including Spennymoor, where she won the youngest player award
at age 12. Her latest achievement was passing grade 8 Drum
Kit with Honours at the age of 14. She currently helps the
band out at contests and concerts.
