Megan Taylor Principal Cornet

 Megan started playing at the age of 7 under Dave Pope in the youth band. She moved onto Flugel aged 11 and made it into the Senior Band on 3rd cornet when she was 13. She worked her way up through the cornet ranks to 2nd man down and then took a "career break" in 2007 shortly before the birth of her second daughter Daisy.  

Her banding highlights are being the first Cornish band to play at Brass in Concert and also playing at the Albert Hall. 
Nicknames: Meg, Megs
Something that reveals age: I remember winding a cassette tape back with a pencil
First Band: Mount Charles!
Started playing because: Following a band demonstration at my primary school, but also brass band runs in the family
Why Mount Charles: They were the band demonstrating at school. I've stayed because I love it!
First contest: Paignton
Favourite Music: Paganini
Favourite Venue: Minack Theatre
Best Banding Memory: Being the first Cornish band to play Brass in Concert and coming third!
Funniest thing you overheard a band member say: "Are you ***tting me!?"
Hobbies: Does sleeping count as a hobby...?
Pets: Dexter the cat, Blanco the snake and Draco the Gecko
Favourite alcoholic drink: Bombay Sapphire + Tonic
Can no longer drink: Tequila
Toilet paper hangs: Over
Dumbest injury: Broke my wrist roller skating

Tim Roberts - Solo Cornet

Nicknames: Hot Tub Tim
Something that reveals age: A star was born
First Band: Newquay
Started playing because: My Grandad and Dad played and made me
Why Mount Charles: The bigger boys made me
First contest: Truro
Favourite Music: Music
Favourite Venue: Colston Hall
Best Banding Memory: Competing at the National Finals twice in two different sections. And the bus trips
Funniest thing you overheard a band member say: I never listen whilst at band
Hobbies: Working, drinking
Pets: Two dogs, Roxy and Luna
Favourite alcoholic drink: Tribute and red wine
Can no longer drink: None
Toilet paper hangs: Don't use any
Dumbest injury: Gave myself a black and broken nail on my cornet just before a concert.

Solo Cornet

Nicknames: Smophie, Sophalof
Something that reveals age: I played Chuckie Egg on a ZX Spectrum 
First Band: Bodmin Town
Started playing because: My friends at school played
Why Mount Charles: The people
First contest: CBBA
Favourite Music: Guardian of My Soul 
Favourite Venue: Minack Theatre
Best Banding Memory: A member collecting a contest prize dressed as a Stormtrooper
Funniest thing you overheard a band member say: Lets just say an older gentlemen was commenting on how to put a mute in and leave it at that.
Hobbies: Craft, hiking, swimming, reading
Pets: Peter and Cookie the rabbits and Elsa and Bobbie the gerbils
Favourite alcoholic drink: Southern Comfort and coke.
Can no longer drink: Apple sours
Toilet paper hangs: Over
Dumbest injury: Got cramp behind my knee when taking photos of the 'Song of the Sea' cave. Tried to stand up to straighten it and got cramp in the other leg. Fell over a boulder behind me and narrowly missed the rockpool.

Nicknames: Cornet Keith
Something that reveals age: I finished my last year at secondary school in 2000
First Band: Corby Silver Band
Started playing because: I couldn't take the percussion kit home from school so brass was a better option
Why Mount Charles: I saw the band room when parking for the Gym. I dropped a message, popped along and loved them all.. ha ha
First contest: Midlands Area
Favourite Music: Knights Templar March
Favourite Venue: Rushton Church, Northamptonshire
Best Banding Memory: Winning my first contest ,1st Place with Corby Silver Band, in 2013 with Malvern Suite conducted by Cathy Fountain.
Funniest thing you overheard a band member say: Do we have four bars resting where the music has four bars resting written.... hmmm let me think...
Hobbies: Gardening, baking, singing, vintage bus driving, gym and swimming.
Pets: Alfie the dog
Favourite alcoholic drink: Dark Cuban
Can no longer drink: Tia Maria
Toilet paper hangs: Over of course... any other way is just wrong
Dumbest injury: Dropping a pane of mirror glass on my bare foot and slicing off the side of my foot.. It wasn't pretty.

Something that reveals age: When I was a younger child (than I am now), a Snickers bar was called a Marathon 
First Band: Perranporth Town
Started playing because: I wanted to be better than my brother at something.
Why Mount Charles: They needed a super Soprano, but couldn't find one!!
First contest: Third section area contest 1988
Favourite Music: Pagannini Variations
Favourite Venue: Minack Theatre
Best Banding Memory: Playing the World Premier of Goff Richards' The Golden Lady under the statue of The Golden Lady in Luxemburg with the Cornwall Youth Brass Band
Funniest thing you overheard a band member say: "Are you ***tting me?!?!"
Hobbies: Golf
Pets: A few fish
Favourite alcoholic drink: Anything!
